Surfers 80th Birthday!

Surfers Paradise will celebrate it’s 80th birthday later this year, on December 1st, capping off a year of major events for the area.

Surfers Paradise was formerly know as Elston. The name ‘Surfers Paradise’ came to prominence when Jim Cavill opened his world-famous Surfer Paradise hotel in 1923.

The town council bowed to pressure and on December 1, 1933, Elston was renamed Surfers Paradise!

Plans for the celebration are being kept under wraps at this stage!  Stay tuned to our blog for more information!
