Samphire Bites has been dubbed as “fine dining for beginners.” The restaurant claims to focus on food thanks to their bare tables and an 8-metre tapas bar that allows customers to see the kitchen up close and personal.

Menus and cocktail lists change everyday. They base their selections in what nature has to offer. Samphire Bites searches the coastlines of Queensland for wild herbs and marine life. Samphire Bites’ slow-cooking philosophy allows them to highlight amazing cuts of animal meats.

Samphire Bites doesn’t take reservations but customers can easily get a seat if they arrive early. Diners are given front row seats wherein they can witness the restaurant’s London-trained chefs create precise and delectable menus.

Trip Advisor Contributor “foodieGoldCoast” has been to Samphire Bites and describes it as “Wow,wow, wow!”

“Been trying to get to try this place for ages, and after our first experience it won’t be long before a return visit. Such individuality! On arrival we were greeted warmly and sat at an outside table enjoying the comings and goings of Chevron Island. When we were ready to eat we took the inside option which has a lovely intimate atmosphere. The talented chef creates the tapas style plates right there in front of diners, at a long sit-up bar. This team knows how to cook. The produce is fresh, and plated beautifully. We worked our way through as many flavours as we could fit in and there wasnt one that missed a beat. Unfortunately a lot of eating houses throws around the word "tapas" and "small plates" when really they are serving entree size meals. This is not one of those and should not be compared. Do yourself a favour, pull up a seat at the bar, order a couple of items and enjoy this eating experience.”

Trip Advisor Senior Reviewer “Gill561027” describes their dinner at Samphire as a “Brilliant evening.”

“Brilliant evening, sampling different foods. Sat at the bar watching the chef plate up. Staff very helpful.”

Trip Advisor Senior Contributor “AJfromOZ” didn’t enjoy their meal at Samphire.

“We ordered 2 small tapas. Mine was served first and we waited for the second. And waited and waited and waited…When we could catch the staff’s attention and enquired where the second was we were told "It's Chefs concept that all meals are shared". We were advised that this should have been explained to us and I guess it would have been if we had the same person serving us. We didn't, we had 3 different people serving us, so perhaps there was some sort of mix up…Upon paying the bill we found the bottle of wine that wasn't on the list was $60! This wasn't explained to us either.

4 tapas, 2 beers and a bottle of wine $144.

Back to our favourite places I guess.”

Top Trip Advisor Contributor “Vertullo” founds the meals at Samphire “Too expensive” while the meals came out “slow and (in) minute quantities.”

“…Waited forever for each dish - at $ 24 per plate it's too expensive for Tappas concept - especially for Chevron Is.
Abandoned our meal..”
